Check Your Tire Tread and Pressure

If your car's tires are over-inflated, they will wear unevenly. Not enough pressure will also cause excess wear, but under-inflation will also cause reduced fuel efficiency. Check your pressure with a tire gauge regularly. Inflate the tires to the pressure recommended by the manufacturer. This information is inside the driver's door or in the owner's manual.

Proper tread depth allows your car to firmly grip the road. Take the time to check your tread when you check the pressure. An easy way to check the tread is with a penny. Place a penny with Lincoln's head down. If the whole head is visible, the tread is too low. Also, some tires have tread bars. If you see these at the level of the tread, it is time for new tires.

If you live in Hampton, VA, and you need your tires check or replaced, come into Wynne Ford. The service center can check the pressure, tread and put on new tires if necessary.
